1 Peter 2: 11 - 3:17

Dear Friends,

When you're on vacay nothing is really yours except for your experience and the retained remnants of pictures and keepsakes. You cannot maintain any type of ownership of the physicalities of your location in a continued state. The hotel room, the amazing sights and smells...they are all on a limited time offer.

This passage reminds me that my life is just as temporary as that. So while we are here we should live it upright and with impact, knowing that people are watching us. We have a responsibility towards them and to God for that. Who knows how they are affected by you?

And living uprightly also means submitting to the authorities placed in our time. God put them there. Here in Hong Kong it's the SAR government, our bosses, our supervisors, etc.. And especially when ordinances or their requests are nonsensical and drive you up the wall, remember that "God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment. 20 Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you."

Remember, our crowns are for us in heaven. But also our temporary growing pains allow us to share with Jesus in the fellowship of suffering.

I pray that your perspectives be continually made more eternal.

amen.

we often don't talk too much about submission, but it is a key part of being a God pleasing Christian. Do we show proper respect to everyone?

may we all live such good lives! not retaliate like JC and submit for the Lord's sake.

and may all of us be so much more beautiful because of our spirit and character.

and continue to fear God and honor the King!
