James 1: 1 - 26

I have a confession to make: I'm no athlete.

So when James tells me to have pure joy when my faith is tested to develop perseverance, I associate it with other scripture and "running the race". My instinct is to grimace and to white-knuckle it.

Yet my inner healing, recent gym sign-up and increasing health conscience is reforming my knee-jerk reaction. The Father of lights uses difficulties to make me confident, spiritually muscular and complete in Him. His first fruit. And all of this, just makes me WANT to run the race. Because I WANT to show Jesus I love Him. I WANT to finish well and I WANT the crown of life.

My encouragement to you is to gain perspective. God's perspective. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says, "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. "

That's a lot to be joyful about.
