1 John 2
Dear Friends,
The resonating theme of NT never ceases to blow me away as it contrasts so starkly with the OT. Yes we may sin, but no sin can hold us back from our Father. We just need to be like the prodigal son (Luke 15)...repentant and willing to come home. No sacrifice necessary. This is the same solace you can give to your non-Christian friends when they are tired of the world and are in the pits. Jesus is the atoning sacrifice for them too.
I hope that sacrifice spurs you on to obey His commands. You get to know Him, He gets to know you, your friends get to know Him. The effects are pure domino. That act is an act of love for Him and for others, fulfilling love the Lord Your God and love your neighbors as you love yourself. And that's how Jesus walked. Aspire to do the same.
May your love for Him grow strong and conquer the world. More love to Thee. :)

obedience is not too popular these days in the church, but God sure thinks it's important. from this passage it seems obedience to His commands are central to knowing Him. We must walk as Jesus walks (What would Jesus Do).
So it seems that hating someone causes us to live in the darkness. When our lives are filled with hatred, we lose our sense of direction and no longer know where to go.
verses 15-17 echoes a point made yesterday in Annie's sermon. shocking how if one loves the world, one is no longer able to love God. may sinful cravings, lusting, and boasting leave us all in Jesus' Name!
